Baseball Recap: Capital Starts Season with Win on the Road

Capital had to kick off their season on the road on Wednesday, but they showed no ill effects. They put the hurt on the Bishop Kelly Knights with a sharp 9-0 win. This was payback for the Golden Eagles, who suffered a 9-0 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Caden Werner and Cooper Myers made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Werner didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Myers pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That one hit allowed gave Werner a new career-low. At bat, Werner scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-3, while Myers scored two runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. The dominant performance gave Werner a new career-high in runs.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Capital will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Madison at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Bishop Kelly, they will square off against Mountain View at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
