Far Northeast W suffers sixth straight loss on the road

Recap: Far Northeast W Warriors vs. Denver West Cowboys

This season hasn't been kind to the Far Northeast W Warriors, who are still winless after their 13th contest. They took a 55-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of Denver West on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Far Northeast W can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 309th, while Denver West is ranked 104th).

When it comes to explaining why Far Northeast W lost, one person who can't be blamed is Steve Griffin. Despite the final result, he scored 12 points along with five steals. Griffin has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Julian Griffin-Cobbs, who scored ten points along with two steals.

Jeremiah Parker was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 19 points and 15 rebounds for Denver West. Parker is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Angel Morales-Torres was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.

Far Northeast W bumped their record down to 0-13 with that loss, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for Denver West, their victory bumped their record up to 11-1.

Far Northeast W will be playing in front of their home fans against George Washington at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. George Washington will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. Denver West won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Northfield at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. Northfield has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 834 points over their last 11 matches.
