Softball Recap: Highland Park's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Highland Park entered their tilt with Glenbrook South on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Titans. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 9-6 back in April.

Lily Freedman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Highland Park saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Vera Hanson, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI. That's the most hits Hanson has posted since back in April.

Highland Park's win bumped their record up to 9-5. As for Glenbrook South, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-20.

The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Giants 3.2, the Trevians 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Glenbrook South is set to square off against their familiar foe Glenbrook North at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday.
