Softball Recap: Pioneer Takes a Loss

Pioneer dropped their record down to 16-5 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They fell just short of the Vacaville Bulldogs by a score of 3-2. The Patriots were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bulldogs earlier this season, when they won 5-2.

Marisa Bryson made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run.

As for Vacaville, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-6. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games.

On Vacaville's side, Lola Vazquez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Makayla Morgan, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Coincidentally, Pioneer and Vacaville will both be playing Wood the next time they take the field. The Patriots will head out to face the Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Bulldogs will head out to face them at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
