Baseball Recap: Pleasant Grove Drops Season-High Score on Sheldon

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pleasant Grove). They put the hurt on the Sheldon Huskies with a sharp 14-4 victory on Monday. With that win, the Eagles brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.

Thomas Jensen looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and not a single walk). Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Cole Davis, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and one triple. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Nolan Underwood also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Pleasant Grove kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive games.

Pleasant Grove pushed their record up to 9-6 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Sheldon, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-11.

Pleasant Grove will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Huskies: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
