Baseball Recap: Shandon Outlaws vs. Coast Union Broncos
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Valley Christian Academy, Shandon was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They walked away with a 10-6 victory over the Coast Union Broncos. The Outlaws' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Cristobal Cruz Rodriguez made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last ten games he's played dating back to last season.
