Baseball Recap: Kohala Comes Up Short

Kohala extended their losing streak to eight on Tuesday, dropping them down to 0-8. They lost 12-2 to the Hawaii Prep Ka Makani. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Ka Makani this season, with their most recent defeat being a 18-2 loss back in March.

As for Hawaii Prep, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-3-1. Considering they have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

For Hawaii Prep's part, Kamea Leleiwi made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. Leleiwi was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two RBI.

In other batting news, Leon Kikukawa was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Wyley Ament, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Looking ahead, Kohala will host Pahoa at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday. The Daggers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.63 runs per game on average), something the Cowboys will no doubt try to take advantage of. Hawaii Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
