Basketball Game Preview: Carson Senators vs. Douglas Tigers

Carson is 1-9 against Douglas since February of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Senators will venture away from home to challenge the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Carson has given up an average of 59.2 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

On Monday, Carson ended up a good deal behind Reno and lost 67-50. While losing is never fun, the Senators can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked 44th, while the Huskies are ranked ninth).

Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Douglas' strategy against Galena on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Tigers blew the Grizzlies out of the water with a 66-29 final score. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 39-19.

Carson better focus on containing Trent Ipsen and Zachary Jahreis as the pair were huge in Douglas' win. Ipsen shot 43% from the field on his way to 16 points in addition to eight boards and six assists, while Jahreis went 7-for-11 en route to 18 points. Those six assists gave Ipsen a new career-high. Alessandro Curletto was another key player, putting up six points and three steals.

Douglas was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They are 14-3 when they've passed the ball that well.

Douglas' record now sits at 15-8. As for Carson, their loss dropped their record down to 10-13.

Carson came up short against Douglas when the teams last played two weeks ago, falling 75-62. Can the Senators avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
