Softball Recap: Henderson County Continues Road Dominance on Monday

Henderson County won the last time they faced Union County and things went their way on Monday too. The Colonels were the clear victors by a 15-1 margin over the Braves. The Colonels might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 20 matches by six runs or more this season.

Anna Kemp was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run.

In other batting news, Henderson County got a massive performance out of Mackenzie Burczyk, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Burczyk has posted since back in April. Ayden Bennett was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Henderson County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .516. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Union County only posted a batting average of .176.

Henderson County's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 28-4. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Union County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 17-14.

Looking ahead, Henderson County will take on Owensboro Catholic at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Union County has already played their next game (against Trinity), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
