Softball Recap: Patrick Henry's Luck Changes for the Better on Monday

After low-scoring totals in their previous three matchup, Patrick Henry brought some dynamite into their most recent game. They blew past the Parry McCluer Yosemite Sam 10-1 on Monday. The Patriots not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since April 1, 2025 (when they won 11-0).

Tatum Ziccardy made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). Those 13 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Arianna Williams, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those five hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Carlee Coleman, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and one double.

Patrick Henry was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .432. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

With the win, Patrick Henry broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-11. As for Parry McCluer, they dropped their record down to 3-9 with the loss, which was their sixth straight at home.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Patrick Henry will take on Christiansburg at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Patriots' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Blue Demons have averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season. As for Parry McCluer, they will square off against Highland at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
