Basketball Recap: Bishop Machebeuf's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Bishop Machebeuf had won two straight games and Penelope Mikita did her part to make it three on Thursday. The Bishop Machebeuf Buffaloes escaped with a win against the Dayspring Christian Academy Eagles by the margin of a single free throw, 32-31 thanks in part to Mikita, who went 5 of 12 on her way to 11 points and six steals. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played.

Another player making a difference was Sarai Ramirez, who posted two points in addition to seven boards and six blocks. Those six blocks gave her a new career-high.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mikayla Perman, who earned seven points and eight rebounds. Evie Noce also deserves some recognition as she grabbed her first steal of the season.

Bishop Machebeuf pushed their record up to 5-8 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 24.7 points per game. As for Dayspring Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 6-8.

Bishop Machebeuf wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 55-14 defeat against St. Mary's Academy on the 1st. Dayspring Christian Academy has also already played their next game, a 51-39 win against Kiowa on the 1st.
