Football Recap: Jasper Wildcats vs. Castle Knights

After flying high against Evansville Central last Saturday, Jasper came back down to earth. The Jasper Wildcats were just a hair shy of victory on Friday and fell 14-13 to the Castle Knights. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wildcats of the 39-33 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2023.

Max Mccool was his usual excellent self, rushing for 147 yards and a touchdown for Castle. Mccool's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his sixth straight game with at least 117 rushing yards dating back to last season.

Jasper now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Castle, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 6-1.

Jasper is on the road again on Friday to play Evansville North at 6:30 p.m. Evansville North is coming into the game with four straight victories at home, so Jasper will have to stop a squad with plenty of momentum. As for Castle, they will welcome Evansville Central at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Castle's defense has only allowed 14.6 points per game this season, so Evansville Central's offense will have their work cut out for them.
