Soccer Recap: Basalt Comes Up Short

Basalt lost against Steamboat Springs back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Longhorns took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sailors. While losing is never fun, Basalt can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado soccer rankings (they are ranked 143rd, while Steamboat Springs are ranked 24th).

Basalt's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7-2. As for Steamboat Springs, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3-1 record this season.

Basalt has already played their next contest, a 3-1 loss against Coal Ridge on the 21st. As for Steamboat Springs, they also wasted no time getting back out on the pitch and have already played their next matchup, a 4-1 victory against Delta on the 18th.
