Baseball Recap: Western Christian Comes Up Short

Western Christian had lost five straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 7-11 to make it six. They fell just short of the Capistrano Valley Christian Eagles by a score of 7-6. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, with their most recent loss being a 11-6 defeat on Tuesday.

Ethan Scofield was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. Will Stradley was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

As for Capistrano Valley Christian, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 13-11. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games.

On Capistrano Valley Christian's side, Reid Boyer looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts Boyer has posted since back in March.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Drew Martin, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Jack Gallo, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
