Basketball Game Preview: Poly Engineers vs. McDonough Rams

The Poly Engineers will face off against the McDonough Rams on Monday. Poly is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.3 points per game this season.

Poly is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Ursuline Academy just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 60-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Raiders. While losing is never fun, the Engineers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 73rd in Maryland, while the Raiders are ranked fourth in Delaware).

Despite the defeat, Poly had strong showings from London Elliot, who posted 18 points along with six rebounds and three steals, and Brianna Pope, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine boards. Elliot is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

Meanwhile, McDonough was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were dealt a 60-24 defeat at the hands of St. Charles.

McDonough's loss dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Poly, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-7.
