Softball Recap: Clifton Central Triumphs

Clifton Central made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Hoopeston, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Clifton Central's pitcher stepped up to hand Hoopeston a 10-0 shutout on Friday. This was payback for the Comets, who suffered a 14-4 loss the last time these two teams met.

Not much got past Sydney Jemar, who gave up just a hit and racked up 16 Ks to keep Hoopeston off the board. That's the fewest hits Jemar has allowed since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Clifton Central got a massive performance out of Rayven Perkins, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. That's the most hits Perkins has posted since back in April of 2024. Lia Prairie was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-2.

The victory got Clifton Central back to even at 1-1. As for Hoopeston, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 1-1.

Clifton Central didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 13-0 loss against Meridian on the 22nd. As for Hoopeston, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 15-5 win against Paxton-Buckley-Loda on the 25th.
