Basketball Recap: Lebanon Trail Comes Up Short

Lebanon Trail was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 12th straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Heritage Coyotes and fell 85-54. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Trail Blazers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 83-30 back in January.

Despite the loss, Lebanon Trail still got an impressive performance from Zade Shawwa, who posted 20 points and six boards. The dominant performance gave Shawwa a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Michael Molstad, who earned nine points and seven rebounds.

Heritage's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mikhail Patel led the charge by going 9 for 15 en route to 23 points and six boards. Patel is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Lomax, who went 6 of 12 on his way to 20 points along with five rebounds and four steals.

Lebanon Trail's loss dropped their record down to 9-19. As for Heritage, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 25-4 record this season.

Lebanon Trail has already played their next contest (against Independence), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Heritage will host Centennial at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Heritage is coming into the game hot, having won their last nine games.
