Softball Game Preview: Lincoln Cardinals vs. McDaniel Mountain Lions

The Lincoln Cardinals will face off against the McDaniel Mountain Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lincoln will be strutting in after a victory while McDaniel will be coming in after a loss.

Lincoln will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Grant on Friday. The Cardinals came out on top in a nail-biter against the Generals, sneaking past 10-9. Considering the Cardinals' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Meanwhile, McDaniel was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They lost 12-4 to Roosevelt. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Mountain Lions have suffered against the Roughriders since May 15, 2023.

McDaniel's defeat dropped their record down to 9-13. As for Lincoln, their win ended a seven-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-13.

Everything went Lincoln's way against McDaniel in their previous matchup two weeks ago, as Lincoln made off with a 16-1 victory. Will the Cardinals repeat their success, or do the Mountain Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
