Basketball Game Preview: Cedar Ridge Raiders vs. Vandegrift Vipers

Cedar Ridge and Vandegrift are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2019, but not for long. The Cedar Ridge Raiders are taking a road trip to challenge the Vandegrift Vipers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Last Friday, Cedar Ridge took a blow against Stony Point, falling 86-24. The game marked the Raiders' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Meanwhile, Vandegrift had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.3 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They walked away with a 57-47 victory over the Mavericks. Given the Vipers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 182nd, while the Mavericks are ranked 773rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Vandegrift has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.5 points per game. As for Cedar Ridge, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.

Cedar Ridge and Vandegrift were neck-and-neck when the teams last played back in February, but Cedar Ridge came up empty-handed after a 47-46 defeat. Can Cedar Ridge avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
