Softball Recap: Sweeny Takes a Loss

Sweeny lost to Columbia back in April of 2025 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Bulldogs fell just short of the Roughnecks by a score of 8-7. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Selene Bass was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Mckaela Lindsey was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Sweeny now has a losing record of 6-7. As for Columbia, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-4-1.

Looking ahead, Sweeny will be playing in front of their home fans against Brazosport at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Columbia, they will take on El Campo at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Roughnecks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Ricebirds have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season.
