Baseball Recap: Broaddus Comes Up Short

Broaddus was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 18-17 heartbreaker at the hands of Colmesneil. One positive for Broaddus, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Caysin Hamilton was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in runs. Rayburn Mcclellan was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-5.

Even though they lost, Broaddus always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .558. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Broaddus' loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Colmesneil, their victory bumped their record up to 4-10.

Looking ahead, Broaddus will challenge Martinsville at 6:00 p.m. on March 21st. Broaddus has given up an average of 11 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for Colmesneil, they will host Coldspring-Oakhurst at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
