Football Recap: Sierra Vista Falls Short of Coronado in the Playoffs

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Sierra Vista couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell 20-13 to the Coronado Cougars on Wednesday.

Although Sierra Vista took the loss, they still got scores from Amaya Wusstig and Mary Agnes Kahawaii Pula.

Bailey Goldberg continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Coronado, throwing for 250 yards and two touchdowns while completing 76.9% of her passes, and also rushing for 87 yards and one touchdown on only seven carries. Goldberg's passing game has become a key predictor of Coronado's success: the team is 12-2 when her passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 2-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Maddy Aguilar, who gained 149 total yards.

Sierra Vista's loss dropped their record down to 13-5. As for Coronado, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 14-6.

Sierra Vista does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Coronado, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 26-14 defeat against Foothill on the 14th.
