Football Game Preview: Canyon Cougars vs. Medina Valley Panthers

Two dominant signal callers in Knox Ford and Xavier Gonzalez are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Canyon Cougars will face off against the Medina Valley Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Canyon has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Medina Valley will arrive with seven straight wins.

Canyon's offense might be in the hot seat on Friday considering what happened against San Marcos on Friday. They lost 20-0 to the Rattlers. The game marked the first time this year in which the Cougars were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, Medina Valley was fully in charge two weeks ago, breezing past Del Rio 45-7. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Canyon's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Medina Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 8-2.

Canyon strolled past Medina Valley in their previous matchup back in November of 2024 by a score of 31-14. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
