Preview: Malcolm Clippers vs. Nebraska City Pioneers
The Malcolm Clippers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Nebraska City Pioneers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Malcolm focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Saturday.
Malcolm put the finishing touches on their fifth blowout victory of the season. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat St. Paul 62-29 on the road. Given Malcolm's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 34th, while St. Paul is ranked 189th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Malcolm's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Keira Farritor, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Farritor has scored all season. Halle Dolliver was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Nebraska City, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 37-23 loss to Auburn on Friday. Nebraska City has struggled against Auburn recently, as their match on Friday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
Nebraska City's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Tarryn Godsey, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds and three blocks, and Malayna L madsen who scored six points along with two steals. Godsey is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last seven games she's played.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Nebraska City struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Malcolm has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. As for Nebraska City, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 3-9.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Malcolm hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 52.1 points per game. It's a different story for Nebraska City, though, as they've been averaging only 31.2 points per game. The only thing between Malcolm and another offensive beatdown is Nebraska City. Will they be able to keep them contained?
Everything came up roses for Malcolm against Nebraska City in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 as the team secured a 57-20 win. With Malcolm ahead 35-7 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
