Baseball Recap: Goliad Triumphs

The home team had won the previous six meetings between Goliad and Nixon-Smiley, and Goliad kept the tradition alive. The Tigers never let the Mustangs get on the board and left with a 15-0 win on Friday. The Tigers have beaten the Mustangs the last seven times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Mustangs has come to flipping the script.

Kayden Caka was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-3. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Coy Stange, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.

Goliad hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Nixon-Smiley struck out six times.

Goliad's victory bumped their record up to 11-8. As for Nixon-Smiley, they dropped their record down to 2-10 with the loss, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Goliad didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 7-0 win against East Bernard on the 5th. As for Nixon-Smiley, they will face off against Stockdale at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mustangs are facing the Brahmas at the right time seeing as the Brahmas are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
