Basketball Recap: Wheat Ridge Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Kailey Mason and Honora Tegeder

Wheat Ridge was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 22nd straight defeat. They took a hard 48-29 fall against the Dakota Ridge Eagles. The Farmers lost against the Eagles in their previous head to head back in January of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 71-29 score last time.

Wheat Ridge's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Honora Tegeder, who posted four points and seven boards, and Kailey Mason, who had two points. The dominant performance also gave Mason a new career-high in assists (two).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Dakota Ridge to victory, but perhaps none more so than Darian Lewis, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and ten rebounds. Lewis also grabbed five steals, which is notable because Dakota Ridge is 3-1 when she posts at least five steals, but 7-12 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Emery Bowman, who went 6-for-12 on her way to 13 points in addition to seven steals and five boards.

Wheat Ridge's defeat dropped their record down to 1-22. As for Dakota Ridge, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-13.

Wheat Ridge does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Dakota Ridge, they have already played their next match, a 57-22 loss against Sierra on the 26th.
