Basketball Recap: Firelands' Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak on the Road

If Firelands was feeling good fresh off their 50-23 takedown of Black River last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Firelands Falcons took a 50-33 bruising from the Keystone Wildcats on Wednesday. The Falcons have struggled against the Wildcats recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Vivian Cassell was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds for Keystone. Cassell continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayda Gaines, who posted eight points and seven boards.

Firelands' defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-6. As for Keystone, they pushed their record up to 19-2 with the win, which was their 24th straight at home dating back to last season.

Firelands has already played their next game (against Edison), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Keystone will be playing at home against Wellington at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Wellington will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Keystone surely won't give up without a fight.
