Basketball Game Preview: Marshfield Pirates vs. North Bend Bulldogs

The Marshfield Pirates will face off against the North Bend Bulldogs at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. Marshfield will be strutting in after a victory while North Bend will be coming in after a loss.

Marshfield will bounce into Friday's game after beating Junction City, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Marshfield strolled past Junction City with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 65-46. Given the Pirates' advantage in MaxPreps' Oregon basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while the Tigers are ranked 133rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, North Bend ended up a good deal behind Marist on Tuesday and lost 58-44. The defeat continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now lost five in a row.

Marshfield's win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.3 points per game. As for North Bend, their loss dropped their record down to 4-9.

Everything came up roses for Marshfield against North Bend in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, as the team secured a 71-41 victory. Will Marshfield repeat their success, or does North Bend have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
