After having lost a blowout in their previous game against North Stanly, Pinecrest was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 3-0 margin over the Hoke County Bucks. That's more bragging rights for the Patriots, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
One reason for the win was Pinecrest's just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-17, 25-13.
Pinecrest can attribute much of their success to Hailey Gibbons, who had 11 digs and four aces.
She wasn't the only good server: Pinecrest was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 13 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since back in October of 2023.
Pinecrest's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-8. As for Hoke County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 15-5.
Pinecrest and Union Pines are set to duel on Thursday. Hoke County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
