Recap: Pearland Oilers vs. Alief Hastings Bears
The Pearland Oilers entered their tilt with the Alief Hastings Bears with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Pearland enjoyed a cozy 44-27 victory over Alief Hastings on Thursday. Given Pearland's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 82nd, while Alief Hastings is ranked 652nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Ladamion Mcdowell continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 242 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.5 yards per carry, and also picking up 112 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Mcdowell's longest rush was for an incredible 80 yards. Cole Morkovsky was another key player, having thrown for 266 yards and two touchdowns.
Another reason for the win was Pearland's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for six sacks. Alief Hastings' QB won't forget Joseph Credit anytime soon given Credit sacked him six times.
Pearland is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season. As for Alief Hastings, their defeat was their sixth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 2-8.
Pearland will head out on the road to face off against Dickinson at 7:00 p.m. on November 10th. One thing working in Dickinson's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last eight matches. Alief Hastings does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
