Baseball Recap: Sunrise Mountain Takes a Loss

Sunrise Mountain was the 14-1 winner over Millennium when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Sunrise Mountain Mustangs fell just short of the Millennium Tigers by a score of 9-8 on Thursday.

Sunrise Mountain got a good showing from Ethan Dinnell, who didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only a hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. What's more, Dinnell gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in March of 2024.

On the hitting side, Logan Guilford was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Ryan Baldwin, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

Sunrise Mountain's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Millennium, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to a perfect 2-0.

Coincidentally, Sunrise Mountain and Millennium will both be playing Mingus the next time they take the field. Sunrise Mountain will head out to face Mingus at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, while Millennium will play them later in the day, at 4:00 p.m.
