Softball Recap: Brookfield Gets the Win

After losing to Memorial the last time they met, Brookfield decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Warriors walked away with a 12-9 win over the Red Devils on Monday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Warriors.

Madison Obermiyer made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched seven innings while giving up three earned (and six unearned) runs off ten hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Elaina Boyce was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. McKenna Penwell also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Brookfield kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 3.5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 10.4.

Brookfield's record is now 4-11. As for Memorial, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-11.

Looking ahead, Brookfield is taking a road trip to challenge David Anderson at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Memorial does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
