Basketball Game Preview: Cuthbertson Cavaliers vs. Ardrey Kell Knights

The Cuthbertson Cavaliers will challenge the Ardrey Kell Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Cuthbertson has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Cuthbertson is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took a hard 86-69 fall against Porter Ridge on Friday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on January 7th (67), the Cavaliers still had to take the loss.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Ava Beals, who went 8 of 20 en route to 24 points and six rebounds. Her evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Megan Coffey was another key player, putting up 12 points along with seven boards and six assists.

Even though they lost, Cuthbertson smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Ardrey Kell entered their tilt with South Mecklenburg on Thursday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They snuck past the Sabres with a 55-51 win. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Knights' disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 168th, while the Sabres are ranked 41st).

Ardrey Kell's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-7. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.3 points per game. As for Cuthbertson, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.
