Baseball Recap: Telstar Wins Going Away Against Carrabec

Telstar lost to Carrabec back in May of 2023, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Saturday. The Rebels blew past the Cobras 18-7. Considering the Rebels have won four matches by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Connor Deprey and Bryson Walker made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Deprey struck out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and only one walk). Meanwhile, Walker pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Deprey has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. At the plate, Deprey went 4-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Walker went 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most hits Deprey has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Telstar got a massive performance out of Brennan Walker, who got on base in four of his six plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Those three stolen bases gave Walker a new career-high. Brody Walker was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.

The victory made it two in a row for Telstar and bumps their season record up to 4-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 8 runs in those games. As for Carrabec, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Telstar will face off against rival Richmond at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Carrabec is set to challenge their familiar foe Rangeley Lakes at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
