Basketball Recap: Whale Branch Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Harmony Prejean and Larmore Pryor

Whale Branch lost against Hampton County back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Whale Branch Warriors fell 51-40 to the Hampton County Hurricanes.

Whale Branch's loss came despite strong showings from Larmore Pryor and Harmony Prejean. Pryor went 6 of 13 en route to 13 points in addition to eight steals and six boards, while Prejean posted 19 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. Pryor has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last nine times she's played.

Hampton County was led to victory by Lyric Jones and Travaih Henderson. Jones went 7 for 15 on her way to 21 points and five rebounds, while Henderson went 5 of 11 to rack up 16 points and eight boards. Faith Brooks was another key player, putting up four points and seven rebounds.

Whale Branch's defeat dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Hampton County, their victory was their 11th straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-5.

Coming up, Whale Branch will head out to challenge Barnwell at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hampton County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bridges Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hampton County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.5 points per game this season.
