Softball Recap: Calhoun Wins Going Away Against Marquette Catholic

Calhoun won the last time they faced Marquette Catholic and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Warriors put the hurt on the Explorers with a sharp 11-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won eight matchups by nine runs or more so far this season.

Audrey Gilman made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lacy Pohlman, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. Kiera Sievers was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Calhoun was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Marquette Catholic only posted a batting average of .200.

Calhoun is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Marquette Catholic, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Calhoun will challenge Pleasant Hill at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Marquette Catholic, they will take on Breese Central at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
