Football Recap: Mcgill-Toolen Extends Winning Streak to Four + How To Watch

McGill-Toolen entered their tilt with Spanish Fort on Friday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They walked away with a 45-32 victory over the Toros. That's more bragging rights for the Yellowjackets, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

McGill-Toolen was led to victory by Ladarien Miller and Blane Barre. Miller rushed for 144 yards and four scores, while Barre rushed for 44 yards and three touchdowns. Those four rushing touchdowns gave Miller a new career-high.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: McGill-Toolen was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 246 rushing yards. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 82.3 rushing yards per game earlier this season, but in their last five matchups they've averaged 228.3.

When it comes to explaining why Spanish Fort lost, don't look at Jaylyn 'JJ' Thibodeaux. Despite the final result, he threw for 178 yards and three TDs, and also rushed for 48 yards. A healthy portion of Thibodeaux's aerial production (87 yards to be exact) went to Damien Tate, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

McGill-Toolen now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Spanish Fort, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. McGill-Toolen will take on Baldwin County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Spanish Fort, they will challenge St. Paul's Episcopal at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Toros are facing the Saints at the right time seeing as the Saints are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
