Lyford entered their tilt with Freer on Friday with five consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with six. They had just enough and edged out the Freer Buckaroos 9-7.

Deveric Trevino looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Lyford let Diego Medina and Gael Silva run wild. Medina went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI, while Silva scored a run while going 2-for-3. What's more, Silva posted two hits, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Reyna, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3.

Lyford was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Lyford's win bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Freer, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.

Looking ahead, Lyford will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Grulla at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Lyford is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season. As for Freer, they will head out on the road to take on Tournament Opponent at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
