Softball Recap: Carrick Comes Up Short

If Carrick was feeling good fresh off their 16-0 takedown of Perry Traditional Academy on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Carrick took an 11-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Gateway Gators on Tuesday.

Jayda Rose made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three stolen bases, and two runs. Rose is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least two every time she's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Raniyah (Niyah) Walden, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.

Carrick now has a losing record of 1-2. Gateway has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Coming up, Carrick will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Springdale at 4:00 p.m. As for Gateway, they will take on Kiski Area at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
