Baseball Recap: Mountain Ridge Takes Down Ranked Corner Canyon

Mountain Ridge faced Corner Canyon in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Sentinels sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 win over the Chargers. This was a revenge game for the Sentinels: when they faced off against the Chargers on Tuesday, they had to take a 10-8 defeat.

Karson Fankhauser tossed a big game, tossing 5.1 innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Stockton Fowlks was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. He has become a key player for Mountain Ridge: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 7-9 otherwise. Ethan Iacono also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Mountain Ridge's victory bumped their record up to 16-9. As for Corner Canyon, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 16-9 record.

As of now, neither Mountain Ridge nor the Chargers have any future games scheduled.
