Volleyball Recap: Contra Costa Christian Takes a Loss

Contra Costa Christian was the 3-1 winner over California Crosspoint when they last played one another on April 9th, but their luck changed this time around. The Cougars fell just short of the Rams by a score of 3-2 on Friday. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The 3-2 score doesn't really reflect how close the match was: every set was decided by three points or less. The match finished with set scores of 26-24, 25-22, 23-25, 25-27, 15-12.

GERRIT JOHNSTON paced Contra Costa Christian's offense, picking up 23 kills. JOHNSTON got some help from RICHY LYMAN and his 34 assists. Finally, JOHNSTON was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high five blocks.

Contra Costa Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 16-9. As for California Crosspoint, they pushed their record up to 16-8 with the victory, which was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season.

While Contra Costa Christian had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
