Basketball Game Preview: East Forsyth Eagles vs. Reagan Raiders

Two dominant guards in Alyssa Jessup and Grace Galyon are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The East Forsyth Eagles will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Reagan Raiders at 6:00 p.m.

Last Tuesday, East Forsyth came up short against West Forsyth and fell 47-36.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Rajanae Bethea, who went 7-for-13 to rack up 15 points and three steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Autumn Ware, who posted five points and eight rebounds.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Reagan). They simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat R.J. Reynolds 73-29. Given the Raiders' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 175th, while the Demons are ranked 401st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

East Forsyth better focus on containing Kayla George and Galyon as the pair were huge in Reagan's win. George went 7-for-16 en route to 22 points in addition to six boards and five assists, while Galyon almost dropped a double-double with 16 points and nine assists. Those nine assists gave Galyon a new career-high. Avery Corbin was another key player, putting up nine points and seven rebounds.

Reagan was working as a unit and finished the game with 23 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Reagan has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.4 points over those games. As for East Forsyth, their loss dropped their record down to 15-5.
