Basketball Game Preview: Neosho Wildcats vs. Lamar Tigers

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Neosho Wildcats take on the Lamar Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday... Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Neosho saw some tournament action on Saturday. They took a 78-59 bruising from Crooked Oak. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (58), the Wildcats still had to take the loss.

Neosho's defeat came about despite a quality game from Kaiden Asberry, who posted 21 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Oliver Martin, who earned six points along with six assists and five boards.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lamar). They walked away with a 74-63 victory over Ash Grove two weeks ago. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Tigers.

Lamar's win bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Neosho, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-7.

Neosho strolled past Lamar in their previous meeting back in January of 2024 by a score of 69-53. The rematch might be a little tougher for Neosho since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
