Softball Recap: Glenns Ferry Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Glenns Ferry entered their tilt with Genesee on Friday with six consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with seven. They blew past the Bulldogs 16-9. Considering the Pilots have won 15 matches by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Taylor Martinez made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and seven unearned) runs off nine hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Glenns Ferry got a massive performance out of Sahira Arevalo, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs. Another player making a difference was Marlee Mason, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with three RBI and two runs.

Glenns Ferry always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .596. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .545 or higher in three consecutive games.

Glenns Ferry's record now sits at 16-2. As for Genesee, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-4.

Glenns Ferry didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 20-6 win against Prairie on the 25th. As for Genesee, they will head out on the road to face off against Orofino at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Maniacs have averaged an impressive 14.3 runs per game this season.
