Baseball Recap: Schuylkill Valley Gets the Win

Schuylkill Valley won against Berks Catholic last Wednesday with five runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Panthers walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Pottsville Crimson Tide. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Panthers.

Dimitrios Aletras spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on four hits.

On the hitting side, Schuylkill Valley's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Bodie James, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave James a new career-high in RBI (two). Another was Connor Huggard, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Schuylkill Valley's record now sits at 5-7. As for Pottsville, their loss was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Schuylkill Valley will face off against Kutztown at 6:45 p.m. on Monday. The Cougars' pitching crew has only allowed 1.1 runs per game this season, so the Panthers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Pottsville, they will square off against Tri-Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Crimson Tide surely won't give up without a fight.
