The Dodd City Hornets will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against the Honey Grove Warriors at 6:30 p.m. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Dodd City sitting on ten straight victories and Honey Grove on eight.
On Friday, Dodd City sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 win over Cooper.
Hunter Haglund was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing six innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Like Dodd City, Honey Grove also got a great game from a two-way player: Jarrmez Daniels. He didn't allow a single earned run and only one hit while striking out eight over 6.1 innings pitched. Daniels was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two RBI.
In other batting news, Mason Banker was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.
Dodd City's win bumped their record up to 10-3. As for Honey Grove, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-4-1.
