Recap: Butler Bulldogs vs. Charlotte Catholic Cougars

The Butler Bulldogs came tearing into Friday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 58-46 victory over Charlotte Catholic. That's another feather in the cap for Butler, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.

Butler was led to victory by Caleb Milligan and Tyler Showalter. Milligan scored 18 points along with two steals, while Showalter dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Milligan has scored all season. Terrance Badio was another key contributor, scoring six points along with seven rebounds.

Several Cougars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Liam Gates, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Eddie David, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds.

Butler has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. As for Charlotte Catholic, their defeat ended a 14-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 15-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Butler will take on Cuthbertson at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Butler's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while Cuthbertson has been banged up by eight consecutive losses on the road. Charlotte Catholic will take on East Mecklenburg at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Charlotte Catholic focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Friday.
