Softball Game Preview: Mountain Island Charter Raptors vs. Corvian Community Cardinals

For the second straight game, Mountain Island Charter will face off against Corvian Community. The Raptors will host the Cardinals at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mountain Island Charter will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.

Mountain Island Charter is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Corvian Community with a sharp 19-2 win on Tuesday. With that victory, the Raptors brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.

Izzy Leppert made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Mountain Island Charter let Katelyn Miller and Reagan Hart run wild. Miller scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances, while Hart scored four runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs Hart has posted since back in April of 2024. Leilani Swanson was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 4-for-4.

Mountain Island Charter kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. They are 2-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Mountain Island Charter's win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-7. As for Corvian Community, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 3-8.
