Softball Game Preview: Newman International Academy Warriors vs. Newman International Academy Warriors

Newman International Academy will head out to challenge Newman International Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.

The Warriors fell victim to the EAGLES and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They came up short against the EAGLES, falling 20-0. The Warriors have struggled against the EAGLES recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost meeting.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for the Warriors, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. Everything went their way against the Eagles on Friday as the Warriors made off with a 16-1 win. The high-scoring effort was just what the Warriors needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

Maddie Brooks made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. Brooks was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs.

In other batting news, Karoline Parada and Yaretzi Prado did most of the damage at the plate: Parada scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances, while Prado scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-1. Yire Barba was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in both of her plate appearances.

The Warriors now have a winning record of 2-1. As for the Warriors, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Newman International Academy suffered a grim 20-9 defeat to Newman International Academy in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Newman International Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
