Basketball Game Preview: East Mountain Timberwolves vs. Estancia Bears

East Mountain is 1-7 against Estancia since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The East Mountain Timberwolves will head out to challenge the Estancia Bears at 5:30 p.m. East Mountain has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

East Mountain is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed by Oak Grove Classical Academy to the tune of 56-16 on Saturday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Timberwolves as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Evelyn Kannolt was nothing short of spectacular: she almost dropped a triple-double on 18 points, nine boards, and 14 steals. She has been hot for a while, having posted four or more steals the last nine times she's played. Emee Naylor was another key player, putting up 15 points and seven steals.

East Mountain was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Meanwhile, Estancia earned a 48-37 win over Capitan on Saturday.

Estancia has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 7-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.3 points per game. As for East Mountain, their victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-10.

East Mountain was taken down by Estancia 53-5 in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Can East Mountain avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
